To soak up sunshine

Dolores Park sits squarely between two of San Francisco’s most lively neighborhoods — The Mission and the Castro. Recently renovated and beautifully kept, you won’t mind the uphill climb to the tippity-top of the park where you’ll be rewarded with views on views. Take a rest and wait for the truffle guy.  Trust us.

An alley full of art

The Clarion Alley Mural Project has been going strong in since 1993, when artist-residents decided to clean up their street by inviting their friends to paint murals. Since then, it has been painted over and over and over again. You can stop by and see what’s on this month by walking up Valencia and hanging a left right before you get to 17th street.

For real ‘wich craft

Head over to Tartine Bakery, on 18th street and Guerrero. Tartine is famous for its country loaf sourdough. Big as a turkey with a crispy exterior and a fluffy, tangy inside, your family won’t mind that you left when you bring them back this treat. (If you can stuff it in your bag.) You may also want to try their famous open faced sandwiches, aptly named tartines.
